I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane :)

My bags are (almost) packed and I ready to go... I am off to Perth Airport tonight to catch the 00:45AM flight to Sydney, arriving at 7am. I think this might be the first time I actually have excess luggage on the way over - I have a wee bit of fabric for the 'Sewing Sisters'

I am really looking forward to visiting some favourite people & places. I have a few special 'catch-ups' planned too.

I was the lucky winner of Annie's giveaway, her beautiful blog was featured in 'Needle Inspiration' on Simply This That & the Other. Look at the fabulous goodies I received - Thank you ever so much Annie.

OK, I'd better finish the ironing and packing, would you laugh if I said I was trying hard to fit in some last minute sewing too?

Babushkas for Ruby

My niece Ruby turned 7 on Tuesday (Hmmm - Ruby/Tuesday, never mind). One of her favourite things at the moment is Babushka Dolls. So, as a good sewing Aunty, I whipped her up some of these sweeties to add to her collection.

I made 2 more Pleated Beauty bags, the 1st photo is another work sample (which will go home with Yvonne - who had a birthday on Friday) and the 2nd photo is one I made as a door prize for a function I went to today - it nearly didn't make it out my door! I am so glad I have more of this fabric :)

I caught up with Lisa on Wednesday, for lunch at Waldecks and another fabric swap :) She gave me a gorgeous prezzie to take away with me on my holiday to the Eastern States (I fly out to Sydney this Thursday - Yay). It's a Scrappy Loyalty Card Wallet, you can download the tutorial through her blog - Thank you Lisa.

4 more sleeps till my fantastic voyage - I can't wait! I will be going to the Colour Women's Conference in Sydney, then flying down to Melbourne to catch up with my Sewing Sisters Kylie and Katherine. I even get to be with Katherine on her Birthday. My daughter Rachel asked me 'What are you going to bring us back from your holiday?" and my DH piped up with "Krispy Kreme Donuts" - (we don't have them in WA).

Bag making lessons & samples

My friend TJ (aka Traceylea) has been coming over on Fridays for Bag making & sewing lessons. TJ & her family are heading over to the UK in May, for her DH's work - they will be gone for a year+ (sniff, sniff). She is planning to take 2 important pieces of machinery with her - her pink Kitchenmaid mixer and her Sewing Machine (of course). This Fridays lesson was the PVC covered bag.

I made one too, as a sample for work using some of the new fabrics in store.

IM000367 IM000368

I made another sample bag using the Amy Butler fabric - can you guess what pattern I used?

IM000361

Yes, another Pleated Beauty Bag, this one has longer handles so it can be worn on the shoulder or across the body. See, I do make things with the fabric I buy - eventually :)

Midwest Modern in the West

IM000356

I had the Joy of sorting through the new shipment of craft fabrics that arrived at the Textile Traders warehouse in Osborne Park last Wednesday. These gorgeous fabrics are from the Midwest Modern range by Amy Butler - I bought half a metre of each :) I know Lisa has gone out and bought these too.

I sent Ric Rac (aka Jodie Carlton) some selvedges for her fabulous creations, and I received a lovely thank you card and a 'Team Selvedge' magnet - which will take pride & place on my fridge next to my Kath and Kim magnetic dress up dolls & the various photos. If you are not familiar with her work, go take a look at her blog (especially to see her new upholstered chair). My favourite piece of selvedge art is the frock.

I came across my 2 cherubs reading together on DS's bed. I stood and watched them for a good 10 minutes before they noticed me. The harmony I witnessed was so good for my spirit :)

Ok back to it, I have fabric to post off to Bronwyn at Whippet Good (some for her, and some for her to take to the Bushfires Quilting Bee being organised by Jan from Sewjourn) and I have my Spring Swap goodies to finish - they are all cut out ready for sewing!
