Another Sample Bag & a GIVEAWAY!

I fired up the good old Janome to produce another sample bag to display at work. The pattern is McCall's M5543 – it includes 3 styles of bags. For this bag I added a magnetic closure, mobile pocket & extended the handles (& also didn’t use the binding around the top – I prefer the way it looks without it). This was my first attempt at prairie points, they were easy to make & look quite cute. I had quite a bit a fabric leftover, which is where the GIVEAWAY part comes in…

I have been inspired by Suzitee (aka Susan) to unearth a pattern I purchased years ago & haven’t started yet. It’s called Christmas Belle’s by Mum's Moment. I went through my stash on the weekend & picked out all my fabrics. I hope to have it finished by the 1st December 2009! Blogs are great for a wee bit of accountability :)

8 more sleeps till Kylie, Katherine and Abigail get here. Katherine texted me yesterday to say Virgin Blue had cancelled there flight – but they’re still coming (phew), just 1&1/2 hours later. How dare Virgin Blue take away sacred time with my sewing sisters *vbg* We have plans to work on a Triangle-less Zig Zag quilt by Crazy Mom Quilts, we’ll keep you posted.

A Day at the Fair

On Friday, TJ & I shared a lovely day of crafty inspiration at the Perth leg of the Craft & Quilt fair. We Ooo’d & Ahh’d at all the fabulous creations, patterns & yummy fabric. We even met up with some bloggy friends too – the gorgeous Suzitee & her DD Lydia. Check out Susan’s funky Birkenstocks!

 

I was on the lookout for Kellie's Garden Party Quilt & found it at the ‘A Quilting Passion’ stand. It is ever so lovely, Kellie’s Free Motion Quilting is incredible!

I also made a beeline for the Amitie stand & had a lovely chat with the ladies. I bought some fabric & the ‘Bags It’ pattern (which includes the Not Another Green Bag & Nan's Knitting Bag) by Red Mumma - I got her to sign it too :)

I also wanted to make special mention of the wonderful ladies at Anne Gadsby Designs, they happily replaced a friends pattern (Chocolate & Roses) that she had paid for & left behind on the Wednesday. Crafty people are just so lovely! My other purchases included some Garden Party Fat 1/4’s from Hot Possum, Oh so Yummy. 

I am off to High Tea at Leaf Tea Merchants again tomorrow with TJ & her girlfriends. TJ, Kev, Kaleb & Talia fly out to the UK this coming Thursday - for an adventurous year abroad. TJ - I love you & will miss you heaps sweetie, make sure you start your own crafty blog so we can see the bags & quilts you create! 

The Sewing Sisters are away in Port Arlington for another Sewing Weekend, they are both making amazing progress – can’t wait to see the finished products. 2&1/2 weeks to go…

A Bit of This and That

I made another sample bag for work, this pattern is McCall's M5598 and is designed by Kay Whitt. It comes in 3 sizes, I made the small one – which isn’t very small at all. It holds the essentials – phone, keys, tissues, comb, purse, pen & paper etc + it’s wide enough to fit a magazine. It has a groovy circular handle which means it can be carried as a handbag or worn as a shoulder bag.

I had a great day at work today, Yvonne brought in her newly completed kaleidoscope quilt, it looks Fabulous.

I also had a visit from Mr Whippet Good, who came in to buy some fabric for his lovely wife Bronwyn – he has earnt some MAJOR brownie points. He came bearing gifts from his dear wife too, some fantastic patterns – Thank You ever so much Bronwyn.

I have also been enjoying some crafty reading & eye candy from the local library, I am feeling very inspired.

I am hoping to get to the Craft and Quilt Fair this Friday, it’s great to visit, shop and catch up with the interstate craft retailers.

Bright, Sunshiny Day

We have been having the most amazingly gorgeous weather in Perth lately, I just love warm days and cool nights. DH and I did choose to spend some of this lovely day inside, we went and saw the latest Star Trek movie – child free. This movie is a prequel to the original Star Trek TV series and it was Brilliant!!! Eric Bana plays a great meanie (a Romulan called Nero) in this movie.

I received some more gorgeousness from Mr Postman.

This beautiful bag & matching brooch was made & given to me by Rachel from ‘Four Wise Monkeys’ as a Thank you gift. Thank You too Rachel, I just love it! My Rachel is very keen to share it with me :)

I found something else that made me smile, Rosalie Quinlan has a range of fabric coming out called ‘Grandmother’s Flower Garden’, go & have a sneak peak at it here - the selvedges are just too cute.

I have been making some more bags as samples for work, I shall post some photos soon.

Sandy’s Bag

My friend Sandy put in a request for a ‘hands free’ (worn across the body) denim bag. She picked out the coordinating fabric and this is what I came up with. It has a large external pocket, interior mobile pocket and a magnetic closure.

The gorgeous bag model is Miss Rachel – please note the stance and the hand flourish!!!

Master James didn’t want to miss out on being in this blog post either. He quite liked the ‘SeBATstian’ I made for Eilish and begged me to make him one too. I enlarged the pattern by 50% and this is the result.

I got a text from Katherine today, 1 month till they fly out – Can’t Wait :)
