I have had a few disappointing situations happen to me & my family this past week. So instead of turning to the chocolate, I have been doing some sewing therapy – much more productive and better for the hips :)
Another version of the McCall’s pattern M5599/M5790 as a work sample using some of the new fabrics in store – the outer bag fabric is Flourish by Alisha Place Frost for studio e fabrics (please excuse the poor photography!).My selvedge handbag! I decided to keep the selvedges on one side only, & found this nifty fabric at work that looks like selvedges for the other side.
And yes, I did finish Jackson’s quilt in time, it flies off to London tomorrow.
I am choosing to remain optimistic throughout all of these new twists and turns going on in our lives, and take comfort from the words of wisdom from Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) -
“Tomorrow is a new day, always fresh with no mistakes in it - yet”
(italics are my added words)
May you enjoy your creative therapy too.
With Love

Fantastic sewing and I hope things are looking up tomorrow x Rachel
Bright new day tomorrow , I hope it's great for you .
Love your latest sewing projects Janelle - the selvedge bag is really fun and the backing was the perfect choice. Love the McCalls bag too:)
I am a big Anne of Green Gables fan - Anne's quote is certainly words to live by! Wishing you all a much happier day tomorrow.
Stitching is fabulous therapy and you have some marvellous results. I hope things start to get better for you soon.

Janelle, the selvedge bag worked out really well! Nothing like a bit of sewing therapy - you go girl!!
Another awesome bag Janelle ! Excellent work.
Chocolate doesn't taste so good in this hot weather, so we can tell ourselves that we are not missing out... Can't wait to see what your next project will be...
Keep your chin up as my Grandma would say.
Gotta love a little stitching therapy! I bought the McCalls bag pattern a while ago but haven't been able to find the large silver rings - where do you get yours?
Oh Janelle good on you, keep away from that fridge, thats what i do and i always end up in my craft room. Love the mcalls bag and your quilt looks fantastic, i'm sure it will be well loved. Hope everything becomes ok in your little bit of the world.
Linda xx
Great bags Janelle! I need to try your method today or the chocolate will be inhaled! We can do it!
Love your quilt and the idea of your bag using the selvedges. I took your words and put them into the memory as we can do with some positives here at the moment as well - unfortunately I haven't done as much sewing therapy I think I need - with a sore ank;e and all!!!!1
Hang in there, my friend. I love your idea of sewing therapy - I'm thinking I need some of that myself!
Sending lots of big hugs your way Janelle...things have a way of turning out for the best :)
Love your selvedge bag, it's so clever!
If only I could adopt your approach to hardship...my hips would certainly thank me for it!
A bit behind on my blog reading!!! Hope things are much much brighter for you now Janelle!
