A little quilt for a new baby

While Janelle was over we visited Foothills Fabric & Threads in Tecoma where I saw the most beautiful hexagon quilt.  It’s almost a cheats version because it’s made using a half hexagon and then the strips are sewn together, quite clever really.  So I purchased the template and a bunch of girly fabrics and had fun sewing up a little pram quilt for my cousins new baby girl.  I put some lovely soft flannel on the back as we’re heading into the colder weather here and flannel always seems much more snuggly.

I really wanted to have a go at free motion quilting it but cannot for the life of me work out how to get the feed dogs on my machine to go down.  So it will have to be straight in the ditch with the walking foot. Hope they like it!

While sewing on the binding of the little quilt tonight I was joined by the wee princess, what a lovely way to spend an evening.  She may even have that scarf finished by the time winter comes…..winter 2010!

Chocolate withdrawals tomorrow…………it won’t be pretty.

Beautiful! Like you, I can't get free-motion quilting down. I want to take a class one of these days!

My sewing machine is 40 years old and the feed dogs don't go down but I use a small metal plate that clips over them instead. Thought your machine might do something similar. Hope this helps.

I love the look of the hexagon quilt Kylie - what a beautiful gift. I think we will need to do a free motion quilting class together!

Kylie, I love the fabrics you have chosen for the hexagon quilt. That will be one very pretty pram cover.

The hexagon quilt is looking so gorgeous, might have to add it to the 'To Do' list! My computer is fixed, a huge Thank You to Steve Knight :) 52 sleeps to go...

What great knitting! Clever girl.

Don't you love it when they show interest in all things crafty?

I love the colours of the quilt. Hae you googled your machine model details and feeddogs? Just a thought. Otherwise ring a machine shop and see if they know. Camberwell Sewing Centre are good.
